Station Space

a youth arts empowerment hub at King Street Station

I conceived, and led the development of, this $4.7 million project as one of the first “proof of concept” projects for the Cultural Space Agency.

I brought together five Black- and Indigenous-led youth arts nonprofits and built a formal partnership that continues to thrive.

I negotiated a 60-year, $0-per-foot lease with the City of Seattle. Together with the project partners we raised nearly $5 million to completely gut and renovate this historic train station space.

The project features

  • a state-of-the-art recording studio;

  • a black-box theater;

  • a luthier shop for stringed instrument repair;

  • a youth arts resource center; and

  • multiple meeting, classroom, and shared work spaces.
